I’ve changed the satellite feeds to now use images from the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR). The images are now back up and running.
Warm Up Underway
by pmarsh on Jan.12, 2010, under Weather
The much advertised arctic blast has come and is on its way out. The warm up has already begun across the southern plains and will slowly translate east over the next few days. Yesterday (11 January 2010), the high temperature in Norman, OK was 57F while the high temperature in Key West, FL was 56F. I suspect that the atmosphere will rectify that beginning as early as today.
Satellite Feeds are Dead
by pmarsh on Jan.12, 2010, under Announcements, Data Feed Status
The link I was using to grab satellite imagery has been down for the past several days; as such, I’m proclaiming it dead. I’ll work on finding a new source for imagery over the next few days. Hopefully, the high resolution imagery over the southern plains will return in time for chase season. *crosses fingers*
Arctic Blast Coming
by pmarsh on Jan.04, 2010, under Weather
A major cold surge is forecast to grip the country by mid-week. Most of the country east of the Continental Divide will see daytime high temperatures at or below freezing. Most areas where daytime high temperatures are above freezing will likely see overnight low temperatures drop below freezing – including a good portion of Florida (freeze warnings extend as far south as Miami!).
New Layout
by pmarsh on Dec.28, 2009, under Announcements
Over the next few days and weeks we will be working on improving the design and layout of the FORWARN website. We will be adding a weather data portion to the website as well as better describing some of the research that is ongoing. Please check back often as we continue to upgrade and improve this site!
